Sherry Winston, a Grammy-nominated jazz flutist, has performed in many of the major concert halls throughout the U.S. including Carnegie Hall, Constitution Hall, Lincoln Center and the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. She has performed at the White House for the President and Mrs. Clinton and for the former President George H. Bush in New York City. She has been featured in numerous publications including the New York Times and Ebony, Essence, Black Enterprise, Savoy and Odyssey Couleur magazines. Her fourth CD, Life is Love & Love Is You, charted in Billboard Magazine and features the late saxophonist Grover Washington Jr., flutist Najee, guitarist Norman Brown, keyboard wizard Bobby Lyle and the late vocalist Jon Lucien. Ms. Winston has shared the stage with such artists as comedian Sinbad, Ramsey Lewis, Chaka Kahn, Pieces of a Dream, Peabo Bryson, Regina Belle, Grover Washington, Jr., Dianne Reeves, Nelson Rangel and Alex Bugnon.
Ms. Winston brings nearly 30 years of “real world” experience to the classroom. Her commitment to excellence, hard work, and personal achievement is the model we need to encourage our students to pursue their aspirations in the challenging world of music and entertainment.

The corporate community has creatively used the services of the Sherry Winston Band to enhance their image. General Electric presented Sherry and her Band in concert to help recruit Black engineers at the National MBA Conference in New Orleans. Sherry’s music attracted the engineers to her concert where GE employees set up one-on-one meetings. Sherry delivered her catchy tunes while interweaving the GE message to the targeted audience.
Boehringer-Ingelheim’s “Pharmaton” division sponsored Sherry in a summer outdoor concert, where she talked about Pharmatons’ vitamins and herbal supplements. Chase Manhattan Bank partnered with community groups to sponsored her band in a summer jazz series of six concerts in the inner cities of Connecticut. Champion sponsored Sherry’s three-week performances at the 1996 Olympics where she entertained Champion’s guests.
Ms. Winston graduated from Howard University with a Bachelor of Music Degree. She has had master classes with Julius Baker of the New York Philharmonic and studied with John Dennis of the National Symphony Orchestra. She has also studied with jazz artists Hubert Laws and Jimmy Heath.
Ms. Winston is available for performance with her band and symposia and workshops on working in the music industry.
